A Fluffy Discovery on the Rural Roads
As Alysse Matlock drove down a rural road just outside of Noble, Oklahoma, her eyes caught sight of something fluffy ambling along the pavement.
Upon closer inspection, she realized it was a miniature Australian Shepherd, and her heart sank at the thought of the pup getting injured on the busy road.
Pulling over, Alysse attempted to lure the dog into her car, but the skittish pup, unaware of her good intentions, fled in fear.
Thinking quickly, Alysse snapped a photo and later posted it on Facebook, hoping someone might recognize the furry wanderer.

A Community United by Concern
Alysse’s post ignited a flurry of responses, with locals recounting sightings of the same diminutive dog roaming the neighborhood.
However, no one knew where she had come from or why she was alone. Days later, the pup, now christened Journey, was spotted 10 miles away in the heart of Noble, raising concerns about her safety as the colder months approached.
But there was an even more pressing matter – Journey’s distended belly hinted at an impending arrival of puppies, and she needed shelter urgently.
Determined to help, Alysse set out to find the elusive Journey, spending hours trying to gain her trust, only to be forced to return the next day when the pup remained steadfastly stubborn as 1 a.m. rolled around.

A Makeshift Shelter and a Daring Rescue
The following day, Alysse discovered Journey had found a makeshift shelter – a busted recliner by the side of the highway – where she had spent the night curled up, seeking refuge from the cold.

Once again, Alysse’s attempts to coax Journey into her car were met with resistance.
Undeterred, Alysse and a group of concerned locals devised a plan.
Spotting Journey atop a hill, they employed a combination of teamwork and a trail of hot dogs to successfully contain the wily pup and bundle her into Alysse’s car, prompting a joyous group hug among the strangers united in their rescue efforts.

A Surprising Delivery and a Hopeful Future
With Journey safely in her care, Alysse rushed her to the vet, where it was confirmed that the expectant mama would give birth within five to seven days.
However, Journey had other plans – the very next morning, Alysse awoke to the squeaks of two newborn puppies, with four more siblings joining them shortly after.
In the warmth and safety of Alysse’s care, the brave mama and her litter were finally able to rest, a crucial step in Journey’s recovery.
