When Cristina Antonucci stumbled upon Lola’s profile on a pet rescue website, the pup’s soulful eyes and sweet demeanor immediately captivated her. Reminded of her own beloved childhood companion, an English Bull Terrier mix, Cristina knew she had to meet Lola in person.
“I remember seeing her sad eyes in the photo and just knew I had to bring her home. She came in with her foster mum and she was just the sweetest little thing and just sat on my feet straight away and looked up at me,” Cristina recounted.
Lola’s unfortunate past had been marked by two failed adoptions, first by a teenager who named her “Gucci Rose” and then by an owner without prior dog experience.
Heartbroken but undeterred, Cristina was determined to provide the loving home Lola so desperately needed.

“The first night I brought her home, she just lay on top of me for hours just hugging me. I was surprised how quickly she warmed up to me as I had only really spent the drive home with her at that point. It was like she was just so grateful which is why I also knew that I couldn’t let her down.”
Lola’s past experiences, however, had left their mark, and the pup faced some behavioral challenges, such as digging in the backyard and trying to escape the fence.
Undeterred, Cristina and her family responded with patience and understanding, determined to help Lola overcome her obstacles.

“They are now best of friends and all they do is play all day long. They have only been together for about a month and a half now but they just love each other. They even sleep on the same bed together.”
Lola’s transformation was remarkable, as the once-troubled pup blossomed into a joyful and playful companion. Cristina’s unwavering commitment and the stability of her new forever home had worked wonders, healing Lola’s wounds and allowing her vibrant personality to shine.
