A Familiar Sight
For the animal-loving neighbors in this community, the sight of a stray dog was nothing out of the ordinary. Having rescued countless canines, each with their own unique needs, they were well-prepared to lend a helping hand to any pup in distress.
However, when they encountered a dog curled up in a local park, donning a cozy purple sweater and struggling with a concerning cough, the rescuers knew they had to take action. Even though their usual approach was to neuter the strays and release them back into the community, this situation called for something more.

One of the dedicated rescuers, Beatriz Ordaz, decided to bring the pup, now named Catalina the Great, into her warm home and provide the necessary medical attention. As soon as Catalina felt the warmth of human affection, she began to show signs of improvement.

“My son and I give her nebulization treatments. She’s doing better, but she still doesn’t have a family,” Beatriz shared with The Dodo, determined to nurse the sweet pup back to full health.
A Mysterious Past
Though Beatriz knew little about Catalina’s past life, she suspected the dog had not always been a stray. Catalina’s love for curling up on the couch and her social nature suggested she had once been a beloved house pet.

“She definitely lived in a house before, since she loves climbing up on her couch. She’s a dog who loves to socialize with people,” Beatriz observed, her heart breaking at the thought of Catalina’s cruel abandonment.

“I hope in my heart that someone gives this girl a chance. As of now, I’m waiting for her to recover 100 percent from her respiratory illness,” Beatriz said, her unwavering commitment to Catalina’s well-being shining through.
