A compassionate bystander witnessed the heart-wrenching scene unfold in a Missouri neighborhood and swiftly alerted Stray Rescue of St. Louis, pleading for their intervention.
Donna Lochmann, the chief life-saving officer, along with her team, sprang into action, racing to the dumpster’s location.
Upon arrival, they hastily lifted the lid, revealing the most endearing pair of eyes gazing back at them. The delightful canine’s tail wagged joyfully, her smile radiating gratitude for their arrival – someone cared.

The rescuers fought back tears, their hearts aching at the thought of the unconscionable cruelty inflicted upon this innocent pup.
“We tried to hold back tears, but this really choked us up. It was so hot inside; we’re thankful she didn’t pass out,” Stray Rescue Louis wrote on their Facebook page, shuddering at the thought of the dire consequences had Malea remained trapped any longer.

Without hesitation, Lochmann climbed into the dumpster, gently stroking the Pittie, who would soon be christened Malea. After securing a leash around her neck, she carefully lifted the beautiful canine to safety.
Ushered into the awaiting vehicle, the rescuers set course for the St. Louis shelter. Malea, overwhelmed with gratitude, showered her heroes with kisses and affectionate licks, her tail never ceasing its joyous wag.
Lochmann cradled her, offering reassuring words that her life held immeasurable value. “You’re a beautiful girl. You do not belong in the dumpster. You are not trash. You are NOT trash. No. You’re a beautiful girl. Your life matters. Yes, it does.”
Malea leaned against her rescuer’s shoulder, finally feeling safe.

As they journeyed towards the shelter, the team received another urgent call – two puppies had been callously discarded in a downtown parking lot. Without hesitation, they rerouted, determined to bring these pups to safety.
Upon arrival, the rescuers were greeted by two overjoyed puppies, their tails wagging in relief at the sight of their saviors.

With the shelter at capacity, the puppies were placed in foster care, while Malea found temporary refuge in the shelter’s Rovernight program, designed for individuals seeking a short-term canine companion.
“She’s in a loving home being spoiled! She gets along great with other dogs and is gentle with little kids, too,” Natalie Thomson, the rescue’s Director of Marketing, beamed.
All three pups now bask in the love and affection they so deeply craved, eagerly awaiting the day when they will find their forever homes.
