Emaciated, Dehydrated, And Craving Love
The hikers couldn’t contain their shock when they approached the box. To realize that someone would commit such a cruel act was unimaginable.
Yet, there they were, all seven of them, begging for help from a huge, black bin. The pups were extremely emaciated and dehydrated.
Even though it wasn’t quite clear as to how long they had been in the mountains, it was more than evident that they needed help – urgently.

The kind hikers spared no time and immediately rushed into action. They contacted several rescues in the area, but sadly, none of them had enough space to take these sweeties in.
Then, the good people of Lake Lowell Animal Rescue, from Idaho, stepped in!
“We had a surprise with 7 emaciated, dehydrated puppies who were found abandoned in a remote location in a box,” LLAR wrote on Facebook.
They, too, were swamped with new canines coming into their rescue, but they just couldn’t stand the idea of leaving these abandoned puppies high and dry.
The Community At Its Finest
After the initial settling into their new environment, the puppies soon started to come out of their shells. Based on their behavior, it was clear that they had interaction with people before, as they were all quite friendly and extremely affectionate.
They showed their true colors once they were properly cared for and fed. These babies soon stole the spotlight with their playfulness and became everyone’s favorite in the rescue.

The most amazing news arrived only a few days later! The community soon learned the puppies’ heartbreaking story, which resulted in lots of boxes of food and toys pouring into the rescue.
“The boxes of puppy food and toys we begged for a few days ago have started arriving and we are so grateful we were in tears a few times. We have never seen anything like this with puppies before. It’s crazy sauce you guys. We are so grateful these kids were found in time,” they wrote on Facebook.
These brave furbabies soon found a way to their temporary foster homes, and the rescue couldn’t be more thankful! Melissa Blackmer and her amazing team were extremely thankful to people opening their homes (and hearts) to these innocent canines.

“We can’t state enough how important foster homes are to animal rescues. We depend on foster homes just as much as we do their forever homes,” she told The Dodo.
For now, the puppies will stay with their foster families until they are finally ready to go into forever homes.
When the time comes, they will embark on a new, well-deserved journey and make some hoomans really happy!
But, most importantly, they’ll never have to deal with abandonment again.
